Don’t Make Cold Calls, Make Smart Calls

Too many of those who use the phone to market what they have to sell end up frustrated and quitting before they have ever gotten that first super sweet taste of true success. When you work the phones for a living you are bound to come up against people who are rude and flat out mean, especially if what you do is primarily focus on cold calls. In today’s culture, very few people are willing to listen to random sales pitches over the phone and you will find that this can be a very brutal way to try to make a living, but there is something that you can do to give yourself a leg up in a way that is going to help you earn a whole lot more money with each check you receive. What you want to do is make sure you are calling smart.

What this means is that you want to take the time to investigate the right resources to help yourself in ways that your average company is simply not going to do for its sales force, especially those who work the phones. Instead of relying on their telemarketing leads, you should get lists for yourself that are specifically targeted to the demographic you are trying to reach and as fresh as you can possibly find. If you do this then you are going to be above average in your success rate and you might just hit a home run which is the primary goal in any career.
